Laser Scan Analyzer – GouMax Laser Scan Analyzer (LSA) products are multi-function power meter modules. They are called “Laser Scan Analyzer” because LSA modules are usually used in various applications to measure powers in conjunction with laser scanning/sweeping. They consist of high-speed power meters used to measure powers with synchronized high-speed laser sweeping. More distinctively, LSA provides wavelength measurement for sweeping laser.

Laser Scan Analyzer (Multi-Function Power Meters)

GouMax Laser Scan Analyzer (LSA) products are multi-function power meter modules. They are called “Laser Scan Analyzer” because LSA modules are usually used in various applications to measure powers in conjunction with laser scanning/sweeping. They consist of high-speed power meters used to measure powers with synchronized high-speed laser sweeping. More distinctively, LSA provides wavelength measurement for sweeping laser. Therefore, LSA modules can provide the following functions:

  • It can be simply used as a normal power meter to measure static laser output power
  • It measures power of high-speed sweeing laser
  • It measures wavelength of sweeping laser and provides wavelength reference
  • It provides power reference for relative power measurements

Applications of Laser Scan Analyzer

The LSA-200 and LSA-800 modules are designed for building automated data acquisition and analysis systems using either existing tunable lasers or GouMax TLS-1200 sources. They support single- and dual-channel measurements with high speed, excellent spectral resolution, and a wide dynamic range.
The LSA-200 series is optimized to maximize tunable laser performance, significantly improving testing efficiency and production throughput in manufacturing environments.

Data Acquisition Example Using LSA-200A

This example demonstrates how to build a measurement system using the LSA-220A single-channel module. The system consists of a tunable laser, LSA-220A, and a PC. The computer controls wavelength sweeping from start to stop, while a trigger signal ensures synchronized data acquisition.
As the laser scans, the system measures the optical signal through the DUT, along with reference power and wavelength in real time. Within seconds, the full spectrum is captured, enabling analysis of key parameters such as insertion loss, bandwidth, central wavelength, and isolation.

To fulfill many varieties of customer’s applications, LSA-200 provides Dynamic Link Library (DLL) that allows users to build their own control software while dynamically accessing acquisition data. Computer controls and exchanges with LSA-200 modules through DLL.
